| Here's a post dedicated entirely to the second greatest Tuesday night show ever, Parenthood, which I'm loving much more than I had expected. And only 50% of it is a credit to Lauren. Honestly, it's all fantastic. So much heart. The comparison may sound weird, but it's a lot like how I felt about Everwood - appears to be all drama on the surface, but if you can see the Gilmore-esque hidden wit.
A few notes/thoughts to possibly get a conversation started (though I won't get my hopes up):
-These characters really need to be developed more. I know it's only been 6 episodes, but there are a lot of gaps. There are SO many characters. I've heard some criticism about the show being choppy, like Modern Family, switching between the families, but it has to be. Everybody knows each other in the end.
-Some things I'd like to see or know more about: -Jabbar's personality - he's so agreeable and even though he's young and innocent, he must have some feelings about his odd family situation. He doesn't seem confused or resentful or anything. We haven't seen him with his mother at all. That definitely needs to be expanded. -Kristina, who just seems like such a filler default mom. Any loving mother in the world could play her part...we're only drawn to the couple because of Max's condition and our sympathy as well as Adam's charm
-Some things that would be really predictable at this point in the plot: -Crosby and Jasmine hooking up -Katie and Jasmine bumping into each other, maybe even becoming friends, and talking about Crosby -Joel and Racquel going too far when Julia's on a business trip or something, Sydney walks in on them
-Things I love the most: -Camille and Zeek's interference in their kids' lives just enough to be heartwarming. When they watched Crosby help Jabbar on his bike, I definitely teared up. -Max's Asperger's is very interesting. It's something that, when mentioned in your day-to-day life, doesn't seem like a big deal because we know it as mild or pre Autism. I know a lot of kids with disorders that I never think twice about. We're getting a lot of insight into a struggle that's got to be really common in society. -Mr. Cyr and the plot of Amber and Sarah both liking him. I think they're going a little overboard with the whole "I'm a teacher, how funny" thing, but it's cute at the same time. Like the note in the last episode, something that would be passed in class. As long as once he's in a relationship with Sarah, he doesn't outline their relationship on a chalkboard or something.
For old time's sake, enjoy these icons!

And some additional interesting info about the show:
From Q&A with Rob Owen:
Q: Do you know if the actor who plays the boy Max in the new "Parenthood" TV show has Asperger's in real life or if he just plays a character with Asperger's? My sister saw "Autism the Musical" on HBO which highlighted different kids with ASD and one of the kids was named Max, and she thought it looked like the kid that plays Max on "Parenthood." -- Bonnie, Nashville, Tenn.
Rob: No, the young actor on "Parenthood" does not have Asperger's.
| If your heart longs for the good old days, check out "Life Unexpected" on our favorite channel, the CW (I was hoping to never have to deal with these people again), 9pm eastern time tonight. It claims to be a cross between Gilmore and Juno. That will be VERY tough to live up to. The trailer looks really cheesy and it does bother me that all of the characters are attractive. Maybe there's a Miss Patty & Babette pairing 2.0 in there somewhere. It's worth a look, at least. | | |
| So if Lauren's new show, "Parenthood," lasts, the4thlorelai may be back in business.

Trailer 2
First I found out from Morgan (THANK YOU!) and then I did major Googling and found the Ausiello column from October that announced it, felt ashamed that it took me so long to find out, and got all nostalgic about those nights we'd wait up for Ausiello's late-night spoiler posts.
| *Calls into the distance* Is there anyone still out there? I haven't had a conversation focused soley on Gilmore Girls in what will be exactly a year tomorrow. | | |
